Students are valued image-bearers of God that have big ideas, inquisitive minds, and an excitement to learn.

During these early years, children begin to choose the men and women they will become. It is a time when they internalize their values, form their character, and develop hearts and minds that are inspired toward worthy ends. It is for these reasons that we present a full and rich curriculum to our students.

Perimeter School's elementary curriculum is developmentally appropriate for each grade level with added emphasis on living books and the arts. All of our subjects are taught with the truth of Scripture as our guide. In these formative years of education, Perimeter School teachers introduce new ideas and concepts that expand students’ minds, give them an appetite for learning, and build a solid foundation for their academic and spiritual growth. 

Helping our children realize their call to become students who glorify God in all that they do is an essential foundation that we begin to establish in these early years.

Developing The "whole child"

Elementary school is focused on developing children intellectually, spiritually, physically, and emotionally. Perimeter School teachers have received advanced training in language arts and cognitive neuroscience, especially in the development of executive function.

Wilson fundations - The prevention model

Wilson Fundations is focused on carefully sequenced skills in the basics of decoding and encoding the English language, vocabulary, comprehension, and fluency. This research-validated approach results in strong reading and spelling skills.

Nature study

Students are guided in a study of the natural world, utilizing observation, a devotion, and dry-brush painting techniques. Students use a sketchbook that will accompany them until eighth grade.

Narration

Narration improves auditory processing skills (especially important in our image-based culture), comprehension, vocabulary development, synthesis skills, and ability to sequence. Narration has been confirmed by research to allow children to go higher in Bloom's taxonomy.

MUSIC

Students regularly attend music class as part of their curriculum. They are exposed to a variety of instruments, music fundamentals, and vocal participation.

HANDS-ON PROJECTS

Incorporating a multi-sensory and skill-driven approach to learning motivates children to develop meaningful projects, work collaboratively, and learn techniques of evaluation. 

MATURING SELF EDUCATORS

As children are encouraged to develop a sense of responsibility and embrace a larger world view, they begin to own their education and connect every need and failure to the power of the promises of Christ.

Daytime commitments are generally shared between mother and father, and both parents are expected to attend evening commitments.

Kindergarten and Pre-First

  • 3-5 Daytime Commitments - including teacher-led classroom activities, field trips, service projects, and parent/teacher conferences

  • 7-8 Evening Commitments - including parent meetings and campus meetings

First and Second Grades

  • 10-12 Daytime Commitments - including Friday Enrichment Days, service projects, and parent/teacher conferences

  • 8-9 Evening Commitments - including parent meetings and campus meetings

Third and Fourth Grades

  • 4-6 Daytime Commitments - including Enrichment Days, service projects, and parent/teacher conferences

  • 7-8 Evening Commitments - including parent meetings and campus meetings

Where learning comes alive

Enrichment Days allow parents to partner in transforming a variety of supplementary topics from simply educational to interactive opportunities. This time in the classroom provides parents the opportunity to build rich relationships with their child, his or her classmates, and other parents. 

In first and second grades, a parent becomes the lead teacher with another parent assisting on selected Fridays. There are approximately four leads and four assists per family per year with all resources and training provided.

In all grade levels, parents and teachers work alongside one another in providing these exceptional learning moments. These activities happen on and off campus. Enrichment Day activities can include field trips and classroom/grade level/school-wide activities.

Schedule

Kindergarten: 8:15 AM - 12:15 PM (Monday - Thursday or Monday - Friday, depending on selection)

Pre-First - Second Grade: 8:15 AM - 12:15 PM (Monday - Friday)

Third Grade: 8:15 AM - 3:15 PM (Tuesday - Thursday) and 8:15 AM - 12:15 PM (Monday and Friday)

Fourth - Eighth Grade: 8:15 AM - 3:15 PM (Monday - Friday)

Offering Flexibility For Families

Adventure (After-School) Program - an optional, after-school program (Monday - Friday from 12:15 PM to 3:15 PM) featuring developmentally-appropriate experiences that spark the imagination. Students may enroll in just one or up to all five days.

Children must be students at Perimeter School in kindergarten, pre-first, first, second, or third grades.
