At Perimeter School, middle school begins in fifth grade. Fifth grade is a “transition year” from elementary to middle school. Our fifth grade students, parents, and teachers are under the leadership of the middle school principal and use this year to prepare for the full transition into middle school in grade six.
The middle school years are a crucial time of education; therefore, all Perimeter School middle school teachers use living books, narration, nature study, debate, math, science, history, the arts, and the Bible to develop analytical and creative, life-long learners.
Our teachers love middle school students and are experienced and equipped to help students grow and mature spiritually, emotionally, and intellectually. Our students are challenged to engage in the classroom, develop habits of responsibility and diligence, participate in athletics and/or the arts, serve others, and defend their faith with love and respect.

Students begin to apply abstract thinking, logical reasoning, and argumentative writing to their talents. Students are encouraged to learn from struggles and failures and to give their best work for God's glory rather than performance.

Our middle school teachers encourage student understanding by asking questions that challenge students to think critically. In every class, Socratic teaching and open discussions grow curious and confident life-long learners.
individual responsibility
Students take ownership of their work and are encouraged to develop good habits that propel them to success in high school and beyond. They learn to advocate for themselves through personal interactions with teachers.

Growing in independence
Daytime commitments are generally shared between mother and father, and both parents are expected to attend evening commitments.

7-8 Evening Commitments - including parent meetings, campus meetings, and class trip meetings
Where Learning Comes Alive
Enrichment Days allow parents to partner in transforming a variety of topics from simply educational to interactive opportunities to build relationships.
In all grade levels, parents and teachers work alongside each other in providing these exceptional learning moments. These activities happen on and off campus. Enrichment Day activities can include field trips and classroom/grade-level/school-wide activities.

Kindergarten: 8:15 AM - 12:15 PM (Monday - Thursday or Monday - Friday, depending on selection)
Pre-First - Second Grade: 8:15 AM - 12:15 PM (Monday - Friday)
Third Grade: 8:15 AM - 3:15 PM (Tuesday - Thursday) and 8:15 AM - 12:15 PM (Monday and Friday)
Fourth - Eighth Grade: 8:15 AM - 3:15 PM (Monday - Friday)
