Gift of Grace
By: Brendon O’Dowd, head of school
As we come upon the Christmas break, I want to thank you all for your partnership in the transforming work in our students so that they can think biblically and live redemptively. That type of transformation does not and cannot happen apart from us working together with our common mission.
We partner with believing parents to provide a strong academic foundation
while discipling students to think biblically and live redemptively.
This upcoming year, we want to continue improving our ability to help students learn and thrive. In light of this, we have committed our upcoming teacher training times to improve the quality of our already strong academics, especially in the “science of reading.” We recognize that when students can read, write, and speak well, they have the potential to make an incredible impact in this world for the kingdom of God.
As a covenant community, we have also committed to learning from Christian leaders like Paul Tripp. He notes that “good parenting is about becoming okay with the fact that you are powerless to change your child.” (Parenting, 2024, p. 62) We can do all the right things, attend the right schools, and participate in the right activities, but those things won’t change the heart. So, it’s okay to admit we are all powerless, but by His grace, we have power, love, and self-control (2 Timothy 1:7) to glorify Him and pursue kingdom flourishing.
Let us rejoice with great joy at such a gift of grace.
“Let the heavens be glad, and let the earth rejoice, let the sea roar, and all that fills it; let the field exult, and everything in it."
(Psalm 96:11)
Jesus came in the still and calm of the night.
